~~Ancinet Egypt~~

I had learned that the people of ancient Egypt built mudbrick homes in villages and in the country. They grew some of their own food and traded in the villages for the food and goods they could not produce. Most ancient Egyptians worked as field hands, farmers, craftsmen and scribes. ABOUT PYRAMIDS: The ancient Egyptians built pyramids as tombs for the pharaohs and their queens. The pharaohs were buried in pyramids of many different shapes and sizes from before the beginning of the Old Kingdom to the end of the Middle Kingdom.
There are about eighty pyramids known today from ancient Egypt. The three largest and best-preserved of these were built at Giza at the beginning of the Old Kingdom. The most well-known of these pyramids was built for the pharaoh Khufu. It is known as the 'Great Pyramid'.

Ancient Egypt

The ancient Egyptians believed in many different gods and goddesses. Each one with their own role to play in maintaining peace and harmony across the land. Some gods and goddesses took part in creation, some brought the flood every year, some offered protection, and some took care of people after they died. Others were either local gods who represented towns, or minor gods who represented plants or animals.
The ancient Egyptians believed that it was important to recognise and worship these gods and goddesses so that life continued smoothly

oops!i wanted 2 write about china but i gotta go! adios, amigos!

Ancient Egypt

China,Cambodia and Borneo

CHINA
Known as one of the ancient civilisations, China boasts a history of more than 5000 years. Its 1.2 billion people make up one fifth of the world's population, and belong to 56 ethnic groups. China covers a vast 9.6 million square kilometres, and has some of the most famous and spectaculatur tourist attractions in the world. The Great Wall in the north, the Qin dynasty (221 - 207 BC) tomb with a legion of warriors and horses, the Dunhuang Mogao Grottos on the Silk Road linking to the West, the Imperial Palace in Beijing and numerous other cultural relics and natural scenic spots are all draw cards for both Chinese and foreign tourists. VIETNAM Influenced by Chinese and French culture, the Vietnamese have maintained a strong sense of their own uniqueness while embracing new outside influences. Vietnams beauty is one of the country's most powerful attractions. From the Mekong Delta to the stunning coastline of central Vietnam, or the rugged mountains of the north and Halong Bay, Vietnams beauty is an inspiration. The cities of Ho Chi Minh, Hoi An, Hue and Hanoi offer bustle mixed with colonial elegance.

CAMBODIA
Cambodia is now more open to the visitor than at any time for three decades. The most popular places to visit are the lively capital of Phnom Penh and the famous temples at Angkor. However, people are increasingly heading to the south coast to relax on the empty beaches at Sihanoukville and many of the provincial towns offer a combination of colonial architecture, sleepy riverside locations and some extremely friendly local people.
LAOS Laos is one of the most beautiful and culturally rewarding holiday destinations in Asia. Mountains, jungles and the Mekong River dominate the landscape. Devoutly Buddhist and largely undeveloped, Laos offers travellers an opportunity to experience rich traditions, natural beauty and a sense of Asia as it once was. Highlights include Luang Prabang – a perfectly preserved blend of rustic colonial architecture and monasteries – and the laid back waterside capital city, Vientiane.

BORNEO
Borneo has long been a source of mystery and fascination for travellers throughout the centuries. Wildlife and nature lovers will find eco treasures from mountain high to ocean deep! It is home to 'the wild man of Borneo' (the Orang Utan), the comical proboscis monkey and over 1200 species of orchid. Borneo offers a range of accommodation from budget hotels to world class five star resorts with lush green golf courses, spa retreats and secluded pristine sandy beaches offering relaxation and recreation.

ancient greeks

The greeks were great. They were soooo intelligent. We still use some of their brilliant ideas. they built the pyramids too. it is still a mystery how they built them.they had maths and even read and write.

Ancient Civilisation

I think that the chinese civilisation is an exciting topic as I am a chinese and I should learn more about the past and how the chinese live. It takes me back to the past to see how chinese bulidings were build and how does a chinese junk look like. It is so exciting. Let me tell you something about the junk. When water enters a certain part of the junk, it will only flood the part where there is a hole. Amazing isn't it? The junk also has moveable and unmovevable parts.

WOW!!!!!!!!! I didn't know that art is one of the chinese favourites. Even the emporer learns it. I wish I could learn more about the Chinese Civilisation. =)

Ancient Civilisation

The earliest ancient Egyptians buried their dead in small pits in the desert. The heat and dryness of the sand dehydrated the bodies quickly, creating lifelike and natural 'mummies'.

Later, the ancient Egyptians began burying their dead in coffins to protect them from wild animals in the desert. However, they realised that bodies placed in coffins decayed when they were not exposed to the hot, dry sand of the desert.
Over many centuries, the ancient Egyptians developed a method of preserving bodies so they would remain lifelike. The process included embalming the bodies and wrapping them in strips of linen. Today we call this process mummification.

Anciet Civilisation(Egypt

Ancient Civilisations

The ancient civilisation i am going to tok about is ancient egypt. The anicnet egyptions were master buliders, we know this because the structures they bulit stood for more than a thousand years.
After an egyption dies, his body undergoes mummification. The priests who wrap the bodymust be careful, bodies which are not well wrapped will become ruined. After that,Anubis, the god of mummification, will weigh the heart with the feather of truth. If the heart is bad,it will be given to the monster ammid, who will consume the heart.
The purpose of of the pyramid is to live in the pharoh.People visit egypt because they are fascinated by the rich history , culture and beauty of the country

How I felt About my SA1 examination

How do feel about my SA1 examination? Well,it is a bit disappointing, though. My mother said that I deprove a lot.I agree with her totally.Expecially my chinese.

I am quite happy for my English and Chinese marks. It was quite well done. Although i did not feel that the Higher Mother Tongue paper was difficult but my marks was only 70/100. I FLUNG my papers! (exagerating)

Hi Guys,
I was not really happy with my exam results. I did horribly bad. I nearly killed myself! But I thought the papers were difficult, except English!
I did worse at higher mother tongue, I nearly jumped off the building, but too bad, I was on the first floor.
When I returned home, I faced the music, my mom nagged on and on! She did not want to sign my paper! Bet that happened to everyone!
Probably, the only thing I can do now is work harder and try to quit my habit of last minute revision.
Valavan, you are going to lose out! Good Luck in your CA2 5C!

Signing off,
Beatriz

SA1 reflections

Yo friends.....

How's your exams?? some did well, some did bad and some average.... I did average and I think it is okay.... I know that you all felt stress up by your parents as they asked you to study, study , study and nag nag nag like old grandmothers but all this is just for your future. You have to study hard to have a good job next time.

I got a tip from my maple friend and i will tell you.......

he said not to study so hard like crazy for PSLE as when you forget something, you start to panic... he said it happened to his friend before..

I think this tip will work and i hope u will listen to it =)

ADIYOUS AMIGOES

Exams

Finally, exams are over! :). However I am not pleased with my results :( . I had not been expecting this type of results :0 . I hope that I will do better in CA2 because my results are so disappointing. ( I shall not reveal my results.) However, I missed my BIG chance because other than SA2, SA1 is the highest percentage. Furthermore, SA2 is testing whatever you learned for the whole year and SA1 is only testing what you had learned for half a year.

Maybe I should had started studying earlier ( shall not reveal when i started studying) and get good results but no use crying over spilled milk, RIGHT? So no point crying, regretting and pitying yourself now. Instead,...............................................................................................................you should......................... .....................start......................
STUDYING!

Exam Reflections

Gerald's entry:

The exam was very difficult. I didn't do very well, especially for Mathematics and Science. My mother did not expected me to get 82 for math and 86 for science. She wished that I could get 90 and above for both subjects. My English was not very good either. I got 74 over 95 for my main paper. However, my overall marks, I managed to get 153 and half over 200. My mother was proud for my mother tongue main paper, as I improved over the past few years. However, she did not feel the same way for my overall marks, as I just passed.( I failed my mother tongue composition and listening comprehension.)

I think I should study during the June holidays and not play too much. I hope I will get better marks for the rest of my examinations.(Now its Zacharias's turn.)

Zacharias's Entry:
The examination was very difficult.I did not do very well for my Mathematics and mother tongue. My mother expected me to get higher marks for math and said that i should improve my chinese. For my english and science,my parents said that i could still improve.

How I Felt About The Exam

I was very happy when the exams were over but when Ms Tay gave the papers back I was so dissappointed. All of us did badly except for some.I was very dissapointed for my maths and science paper.I made many carless mistakes.I don't know what to say.I will try my best for the next exam.I will revise and study. If I try my best I can surely do it!I will definately do better in CA2!!

Exams

Exams were not difficult but I still did VERY VERY BADLY.I want to bang my head on the wall. I feel very sad and disappointed.. Only my english I did okay. My maths which usually my best was my worst. I am going to study smart.

Exams reflections

Exams are over now but my results are not very good.I feel quite bad about my marks as it drop alot as compared to my P4 exams. Now i realise it is a BIG leap,a very big one.My parent are quite angry and disapointed too.Now i realise the importance of studying now and i will try my best to study more for the CA2.And may everyone get good marks too!good luck!

Exam Reflection

I think the Exams are quite tough and i feel sad to get some BAD results.Should have work HARDER.. BUT i tried my best..i will work harder to achieve BETTER results to win my rivals...i read more books and of course to do more practices..Work hard for exams and get good results .Now tats my Goal now!

How I felt about my examinations?

I stood rooted to the ground when I got back my exam papers. Especially my Science. So bad. I was extremely disappointed when I saw my Science paper. Never mind, so long as we do not give up, we can definitely do it one day! Yeah... I will definitely do better for my CA2!

Drink Driving!!!

SINGAPORE : Former television host Benedict Goh on Wednesday became the latest celebrity to be charged in court with drink-driving, capping a week that has seen the actions of inebriated drivers make the headlines. Goh, best known for his stint as host of game show "The Pyramid Game", faces four charges arising from two separate incidents. In the early hours of February 10 this year, the 38-year-old was driving along the Ayer Rajah Expressway, in the direction of Tuas, when he collided with a stationary car that had been involved in another accident. A breathalyser test showed the alcohol level in Goh's system was over the legal limit.
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without due care. In another incident on February 18, 2004, Goh was found at about 6am by police officers in the driver's seat of his car, which was stopped along Lorong 1, Toa Payoh. Again, he failed a breathalyser test. Goh allegedly told the police that someone else had been at the wheel of the car. He was charged with being found unfit to drive a vehicle and with providing false information to a police officer. Goh's lawyer S.S. Dhillon on Wednesday asked the court for leave to make further representations. Bail of $10,000 was posted and the case will be up for mention next month.

DRINK DRIVING!!!

TV actor Christopher Lee jailed for drink-driving.

SINGAPORE: MediaCorp actor Christopher Lee has been sentenced to four weeks in jail and a fine totalling S$4,500 on charges relating to drink driving. He has also been disqualified from driving for three years. The offences included causing injury to a motorcyclist and his pillion rider in a hit-and-run accident. In passing his sentence, District Judge Terence Chua said Lee knew he had caused an accident, and could not be excused from failing to stop and check. In mitigation, Lee's lawyer claimed the actor had not "deliberately set out to drink and drive", and had taken "precautions" before driving again. But these were rejected by the judge, who said the "misapprehension of one's alcohol level is all too common".

Breathalyser tests had also shown Lee's body alcohol level to be twice the legal limit. Judge Chua noted that given the recent spate of drink driving accidents, a message must be sent to the public that "such risks are not acceptable and will continue to be sternly treated". Lee will be appealing against the jail term. He is currently out on a $20,000 bail. When contacted, MediaCorp Studios said it was inappropriate to comment at this time as Lee is appealing against the sentence.
